Mrs. Bettye Magee
Fifth Grade Specialist
Bettye Magee received her BSE degree from Delta State University in December of 1996. She completed her student teaching in the fifth grade classroom at Hayes Cooper, and in the spring semester of 1997, she taught seventh grade World History at Margaret Green Junior High School. She joined the Hayes Cooper Faculty in August of 1997 and has held this position since that time. Bettye is a graduate of the Delta Area Writing Project (DAWP), and she served as secretary of the Cleveland School District Writing Committee for the years 2002-2004. In the summers of 2003 and 2004, Bettye attended the National Educators’ Computer Conference in Seattle and New Orleans. She has also attended the Mississippi Reading Conference in past years and was a presenter in December of 1999.
Bettye serves on many committees at Hayes Cooper: the Teacher/Student Support Team, Arts Committee, Reading Fair Committee, May Day Play Day, Hospitality Committee, and The Fifth Grade Educational Excursion team. She has also supervised several student teachers from Delta State University . Bettye’s students have achieved top scores in the state in reading for the past several years. She was selected this past year, by a former student, to be included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers®, 2005/2006. She has been teaching for nine years.
