Mrs. Renee LaMastus
Fourth Grade Specialist
Renee LaMastus is a fourth grade teacher at Hayes Cooper. She is a graduate of Delta State University where she received a Master of Education and Educational Specialist degree. During her thirteen years of teaching, she has taught second, fourth, and sixth grades in three districts in the Mississippi Delta. She enjoyed three years at Parks Elementary before joining the Hayes Cooper faculty.
Renee is currently a candidate for National Board Certification in Teaching for Middle Childhood. She completed the process during the 2006-2007 school term. She has served as part of a SACS accreditation team, on fine arts and technology committees, and supervised student teachers from Delta State University. Her most exciting achievement was when she was awarded an Earthwatch Fellowship, made possible by the Phil Hardin Organization, during the summer of 2005. During this Earthwatch Expedition, she participated in an archeological dig at the Roman Fort on the River Tyne in South Shields, England. Throughout her teaching career, she has had benefited from attended several national conferences for reading instruction and technology. She has served as a guest speaker for a national leadership conference sponsored by the Netday Organization.
